STATEMENT OF FAITH
This is a summary of our Church Statement of Faith, in brief; it does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
THE HOLY SCRIPTURES
We believe all the sixty-six (66) books of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, unerring, unfailing, absolute, complete, final, and the only revealed Word of God, preserved in the King James Version for English speaking people; it is our only supreme and final authority of faith and practice for us today. God’s Word is the standard by which all human conduct shall be tried. At new Hope Baptist Church, we preach and teach with the Authorized King James Bible of 1611. 2Timothy 3:16, 2Peter 1:19-21
THE PERSON OF GOD
The Bible states that there is one, and only one, living and true God. This one God exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In addition, God is almighty, all-present, all-knowing, supreme, absolute and the greatest ruler of Heaven and Earth. God is completely worthy of all possible praise, honor, love, and glory. Deuteronomy 6:1-4-7; 1Corinthians 8:6; 1John 5:4-7-10) God as a Trinity created all things in the universe in six (6) literal, twenty-four (24) hour days and then rested (ceased) on the seventh day. God is both the Creator and Sustainer of all the universe. Genesis 1:1-2; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16-17
THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST
Scripture further testifies that Jesus Christ is God’s Only Begotten Son, and he has the same nature, attributes and perfection as God and the Holy Spirit. After His virgin birth Christ led a sinless life and suffered a substitutionary atoning death and bodily resurrection on mankind’s behalf. Thereafter, He ascended into Heaven where He is preforming a High Priestly ministry on our behalf. Matthew 28:1-7; Acts 1:8-11; 1Corinthians 15:4-9; Hebrews 4:14-16 Therefore, we, as a congregation, place our “blessed hope” solidly in the personal, pre-tribulation, and forthcoming return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; where He will gather all believers unto Himself in Heaven and rule and reign forevermore. Matthew 7:21-23, 24:29-46; John 14:1-3; IThessalonians 1:10, 4:13-18, 5:1-10; 2Thessalonians 2:1-13; Revelation 19:11-20, 20:1-15; ICorinthians 15:50-58; Acts 1:11; Titus 2:13; Isaiah 11:1-16; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:20-25; Luke 1:30-35; Juhn1:1-14; Acts 1:11; 1Corinthians 15:1-8; Galatians 4:4; Philippians 2:5-8; 1Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 4:14-16; Revelation 11:15
THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Scripture clearly states that the Holy Spirit is a great agent of the New Birth and that He seals and indwells everyone who trusts Christ as Saviour. This Holy Spirit is a Divine Personality, not a mere force or influence. He is equal with God the Father and God the Son and has an active role in all creation. Since the Holy Spirit is God, He eternally possesses all the attributes of God. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and instills true righteousness and judgement. He also seals, guides, teaches, sanctifies, and helps the true believer. Genesis 1:1-3; Luke 24:49; John 14:16-17, 26; 16:7-14; Acts 5:32; Romans 8:9, 14-16, 3:26-27, an 12:6-8; 1Corinthians 12:13, an 13:1-13; 2Thessalonians 2:7-8; Ephesians 1:13-14, an 2:20, an 4:11-12, an 5:18; 1Peter 1:2; Hebrews 2:3-4
THE REALITY OF SATAN
The Bible attests to the reality of Satan as a real being and a creation of God. Who, along with his devils, rebelled against a supreme Almighty God, desiring to hinder and destroy the Creators work including all Christians and or their Testimony.
Job 1:7-12; Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:11-19; 1Peter 5:8; Revelation 20:2, 10
THE STATE OF MAN
The Bible clearly addresses the reality that man, though created in God’s physical image, fell into sin through the encouragement of Satan and thereby incurred death, which is separation from God and all things good. Without Jesus Christ, all men are destined to spend eternity in Hell. The only way a person can escape the punishment of Hell and obtain the blessedness of Heaven, is by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. Genesis 1:26-27 and Genesis 3:1-6; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:23-24; John 3:16; Romans 5:12, 15-19; Revelation 20:10-15 and Revelation Chapters 21-22
SALVATION OF SINNERS
Scripture clearly states that Jesus Christ died sacrificially for all mankind and that salvation is by grace, completely free from any human works or merit. It is through faith that Salvation must clearly be accepted as God’s gift. Salvation is freely offered to all since God is not willing that any should perish. The salvation of a sinner is because of a person’s choice to believe on Christ. Once a person places their trust in Jesus Christ as their Saviour, a personal relationship is established. Scripturally, all true believers are eternally secure in Christ, and it is impossible for one who is born into the family of God to ever be unborn or lost, for as one is saved through the power of God we are forever kept by the power of God.
IJohn 10:28-29; IPeter 1:3-5; Luke 13:3, 5; John 1:12, 3:16 an 5:24; Acts 3:19, 16:31,
17:30 an 26:20; Romans 1:16, 10:13; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; 2Peter 3:9; IJohn 5:13
THE CHURCH
The Church – We believe that the visible Church is a congregation of born-again, baptized believers, practicing New Testament principles, believing Scriptural doctrines, and observing its ordinances, and exercising in them in complete autonomy. We believe that it is the responsibility of the local church to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Every Church and Christian should have a part in this. Acts 2:41-47
We believe that the local Church, under the headship of Jesus Christ, is to be free from any external chain of commands. Solely governed by the Word of God, its financial needs are to be met by the Scriptural giving of its own participants. It is the duty of each member to support God’s ministry through the cheerful and regular giving of the tithes and offerings. Ephesians 1:22-23; Malachi 3:8-10; Luke 11:42; ICorinthians 16:1-2; 2Corinthians 6:14-17; 2Timothy 3:12-17: 6:3-5; IPeter 5:1-3.
The local Church is the agency through which God has chosen to accomplish His work on earth. The Church, as exemplified in Scripture, should be a congregational organization, separate and independent in nature, and ultimately only be “subject unto Christ.” The Church’s members should band together for work, worship, and the edification of the Lord. It was formed for the strength, unity, teaching, and blessing of its participants in the will and ways of God. All this to aid in the commanded fulfillment of life and the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 5:23.
